Visit to Halifax

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Social Integration met with a range of individuals working at Calderdale Council, as well as local residents and community groups, in Halifax as part of its inquiry into the integration of immigrants. The evidence from the visits informed the inquiry’s final report, titled ‘Integration not Demonisation’.

The APPG’s Chair, Chuka Umunna MP, was joined by Holly Lynch, Vice-Chair of the APPG and MP for Halifax. The first part of the visit involved a discussion with a range of people from Calderdale Council, including those whose focus is on communities, cohesion, equality, and PREVENT. Following this, the APPG met with staff and service users at St Augustine’s Centre and Mixenden Activity Centre, before drawing the visit to a close with a discussion in the office of Holly Lynch MP with local residents, community activists and civil society organisations.
