Visit to Dagenham

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Social Integration visited a sheltered housing unit in Dagenham to explore how local residents of this highly diverse borough felt about immigration and integration.

The APPG Chair, Chuka Umunna MP, and the local MP and APPG Officer, Jon Cruddas MP, met with local residents to talk about the referendum result, life in their communities, and their views on social integration. They talked to two distinct groups’white elderly and retired sheltered housing residents and local BAME residents from around the estate. The evidence gathered during this visit will be anonymised and will form part of a submission to the APPG’s ongoing inquiry into integration and immigration.
